SMOG: That's not Fog in the Air

When it comes to Beijing, you have probably heard about the air pollution.  You see it most days.  It looks like a fog.  I lived in California for a time and it affected me worse there than Beijing.  In California, it would get into your lungs and it would hurt to take deep breaths.

With all the cars, construction, factories, it is going to happen. During the winter, they use coal to heat with.    It was described to me once that Beijing is like a bowl.  It is surrounded by mountains on the outskirts of the city.  When the smog comes in, it takes a wind or rain to clear it out.  I've seen really bad days on the news.  It was never really that bad.  But it was there.
