Contest

I went to my companies retreat.  They had a costume contest for Halloween.  I joined in.  I created a costume playing on Raiders of the Lost Ark.  I set it to insurance.  Rater of the Lost Policy.  People liked the costume.  Not enough to win.  I was proud of it.  My costume was hand made.  At least the upper executives see us participating.

Unwelcome Guest

I went out on Sunday to get the paper.  I ran into a mess.  The bear had returned.  He had knocked over the trashcan and got a bite to eat.  I had to clean it up.  Luckily, he did not hit the diaper bag.  It was still nasty.

Ready, Set, Binge!

Tomorrow Stranger Things 2 is released.  I want to dive in, but I am trying to finish Season 2 of Mr. Robot.  If you have not seen Stranger Things, check it out.  It is a blast from the past.  The directors mined movies and shows from the 80's to give us this show and it delivers.  Not only that, but they have cast some 80's actors/actresses in it.  The kids are phenomenal.

Mr. Robot Season 2

I had a day off.  I needed to be home for the children when they got home from school.  So, I started season 2 of Mr. Robot.  It starts out slow, but I am already hooked.  If you have not seen this show, you need to check it out.  It is original and not your predictable type of show.

Turn Back Time

Republicans have forgotten how the last financial disaster happened.  They are eliminating all the rules to make it easier for the banks and Wall Street to screw us over again.  I guess Trump wants to cash in on the next disaster.  I would warn all, be careful with your money.  There are few protections.  I would be wary of Wall Street tricks and bank scams that promise to make you money.  Do your research!  If you think that financial planners have your interest in mind, they may not.  I don't think there is a law that says they need to.  The politicians have already blown that away.

Game Over!

I also got to see Geri's Game.  It's a Stephen King adaptation brought to us via Netflix.  It is another great movie.  The book is one of psychological horror.  Most of the story is from the point of view of the character, who is chained to a bed.  The director did a phenomenal job.  He also directed Hush.  Both movies are worth watching.

Another Typical Orlando Day

Started off to work and was notified there was an accident on I-4.  To the backroads.  They were not much better.  I was really trying to get in to finish the decorating.  My daughter gave me another It related thing to display.  I had to set up red balloons, a Scream 2 banner and my Pin Head o lantern.  In addition, I wanted to display white yarn coming from everywhere with paperclip hooks.  In the end, I thing it turned out.

The Death of the Snowman

I guess I will just wait.  It might be out on DVD sooner than I thought.  It is not doing well at all.  Not only that, but it is getting really bad reviews. So much for Hollywood doing a good adaptation.

The Alienist

Another great book is being adapted.  I read the Alienist a long time ago.  It is a really interesting story.  TNT is adapting it.  It starts in January.  That give you time to read the book.  Caleb Carr is the author.

The Snowman

It comes out today.  The reviews seem to be bad.  I still want to see it.  The  book was really good.  It sounds like the director had to leave some of the story out of the movie.  That is the problem with adapting a book.  You only have so much time to develop a story.  I'd rather see Netflix or Amazon develop a book into a series.  I wanted that for Prey, but the author does not own the rights to his characters.  Another reason why some of Hollywood sucks.  Why buy something and hold onto it?  They have developed two movies.  Neither did very well.  It's pretty sad when they try to change a story to fit a current it actor.

Who do You Believe?

Our Moron President supposedly told the widow of a soldier that "He Knew what he signed up for".  He says he did not say it.  A friend and congresswoman of the family had heard the comment.  Who do you believe?  A person who has lied since day 1 or a congresswoman, who does not seem to have a record of lying.

Halloween Time Again!

Had a busy morning.  We are decorating our offices for Halloween.  I put a red balloon over a coworkers desk.  Sort of a IT decoration.  He understood it.  I plan for more red balloons on Monday.  I even created a ode to David S Pumpkins.  I will be bringing in a half dead florescent light.  It keeps flashing.  When people come to my office, I plan to turn on the light and play the Purge Warning.

Tooth Bandit

My daughter found a tooth in the house the other day.  It was one of her sisters from the past.  She claimed it as her own.  She set it out and told Angie that the tooth fairy needed to visit.  They did not visit.  She would remind us.  I would ask if it was hers and she would say no.  She would say it was one of her sisters.  She wanted the payment.  Eventually, it was replaced with a toy.  I told her sisters to beware becuase she might take the tooth out of their mouths.

Busy Day

I would have posted this morning.  It took forever to get to work.  I think there was one accident, but then you have idiots that either drive too erratically or just too slow.  One car had about a mile ahead of it clear.  I had to pass them.  Sometimes, you have to wait for a clearing to do so.

Blade Runner 2049

We got to see it yesterday.  It was amazing.  The film felt a lot like the first one.  The soundtrack was as good as the original, if not better.  The actors did a great job.  The special effects were fantastic.  When you sit through it, you do not even realize that it is close to 3 hours.  Some people will think so, but they probably did not like the first movie.  The way it ends, it has room for another story.  I just hope they have the opportunity to do so.  It will probably take another 20 or so years before they do.  It is well worth the cost of admission.  IMAX would probably blow you away with sight and sound.

Mindhunter

When I was younger, I discovered Silence of the Lambs.  I loved that book.  What I found interesting was how the FBI tracked down the killer.  This lead me to other books about real serial killers and John Douglas.  He wrote the book Mindhunter.  He was also consulted by Thomas Harris for Lambs, etc.  Mindhunter gives insight on how profiling came about at the FBI.  Unlike most movies and shows, it will not instantly give police the identity of a killer.  It gives them things to look for and how to categorize the type of killer.  I even wrote a paper on If Families Create Serial Killers.  It was for an English course in college.  The subject was supposed to be on families.  I have started watching the show.  It is interesting. It is available on Netflix.

Blade Runner Viewing

I shared Blade Runner with my daughter.  She wants to see the sequel.  I wanted to male sure she watched and liked the original movie.  I could see her falling asleep.  She stayed up the whole time.  It's interesting to watch again.  You see and hear things you missed on previous viewings.  Tomorrow we go to see Blade Runner 2049.

Mirror Images

Weinstein is getting raked through the coals.  At the same time, conservatives are blasting liberals because he made donations.  He was a friend of Trump's.  If you look closely, they are basicly the same.  People supporting Trump say he only says words.  I doubt it.  How may Non Disclosure Agreements and payments has he given out over the years?  No one will know.  The victims who take the settlements would not be allowed to talk.  Therefore, Trump comes off looking like an angel compared to Weinstein.  I would bet that some of the things Weinstein is accused of doing, Trump has also done.  Like they say, Birds of a Feather Flock Together.

Day Off

I took a day off yesterday.  I thought I'd have some rest time, but I was wrong.  Lots of things had to be done.  I had a short window of time to get it done before my girls got home.  I got somethings done.  As soon as they got home, they were disorganizing the things I had organized.

Fatality

Yesterday, we had a death near our house.  That is what we believe.  We have a 4 way stop.  One car decided they did not want to stop.  They were going at a high rate of speed.  They T boned another car.  Our area was closed off for hours.  They had police cars blocking the road.  A news helicopter did a fly by.  I had to take back roads to get home.  Three of the four ways was blocked off.

Sun Tunnel

Living in Florida, you'd think we have all the light in the world.  We have a room in the center of the house that does not get light.  We have to turn lights on during the middle of the day.  We decided to get a sun tunnel from a roofing company.  They put it in.  We love it.  If you have a dark room and you want natural lighting, you might want to check in on it.  Ours was done by Collis Roofing.

NFL Protest

Trump is getting to the owners.  The cowboys owner says he will bench any player who does not stand for the anthem.  This is just a start.  Soon Dear Leader will make it a law that all must stand for our anthem or jail time.  Someone needs to shine the Batsignal!  We need you Mueller!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Preview

It has come out.  December is going to be special this year.  The preview looks amazing.  Phasma lives!  It looks like a very emotional movie.  Check it out.  You can buy your tickets.  I will probably wait.

Instant Success

When the original Blade Runner came out, it was not a big success.  ET came out on top of the box office.  Over many years, Blade Runner has  gained a following.  Most people consider it a classic.  That is why we have a sequel.  I really don't think people understand these movies.  I saw some stories claiming this movie will bomb.  The reviews have been great.  Looks like we might have a little deja vu.  Will we have to wait another 30+ years for another sequel? I would hope people will go out and make this successful.  Do all movies have to be judged on their first week?

Blade Runner 2049

It's out!  Go see this movie.  I hear it is really good.  I hope to see it.  It will be by myself.  I don't think kids will understand it.  It is more of an adult film noir/sci fi movie.  I hope it does really well.  If so, they may have another story to tell.

Things I Have Learned About Property Claims

First of all, read your policy.  Make sure you know what it covers and what it does not.  Acts of God, storms, may not be covered in certain circumstances.  Know the difference between wind and flood.  Just because it is a hurricane, flooding will not fall under hurricane.  If you do not have flood insurance, you may not have coverage for water.  During a storm, be careful where you park.  If you are under a tree owned by the city, don't expect the cities insurance to cover it.  Unless you can prove that the tree was dying and the city was negligent for not removing it, it will fall under Act of God.  That means your insurance will have to cover it.  Not just cars, fences, houses, etc.  One final piece of advice.  I live in Florida.  We have lift stations that take the waste from our houses to treatment plants.  During a storm, electrical disturbances can shut them down.  When that happens, your sewer my back up into your house.  A simple cleaning may not fix the problem.  You need to have Sewer Backup insurance to cover it.  Sewers backing up are not considered flooding.

Blade Runner

When I was a kid, Blade Runner was always on the cover of Starlog magazine.  It was a movie I really wanted to see.  I enjoyed it when I was young, but I missed the meaning of the movie.  As I got older, I discovered that there were multiple versions of the movie.  Hollywood producers had screwed up the initial version by adding a narrator and a happy ending.  Later in life I got to see the director's cut of the movie.  This is the version you have to watch.  It does away with the narration and happy ending.  The questions of the movie stand out and leaves you with one big one at the end.  If you are not paying attention, you might miss it.  It is a movie that can be viewed multiple times to catch things you might have missed.  I can't wait for the sequel.

The Return of SNL

SNL has returned.  Just what we need to ridicule our awful leadership.  I hope they have another great year.  They are missing some regulars. The Trump skit was spot on.  The news has some great commentary.
