Night of the Living Dead
In 1968, George A Romero directed the movie that gave birth to cinema Zombies. Of course, they were not called that. This movie pushed the envelope when it came to horror. It was also in Black and White. I'm sure people were shocked to see this at that time period. It is the story of an incident that causes the dead to rise from their graves and kill the living. You follow a group hiding in a farmhouse. It does touch on social issues, especially at the end of the movie. Romero always did that with his movies. In the 90's Tom Savini did remake the movie. The reason had to do with rights. You see, when Romero first envisioned his movie, it went under a different title. At the last minute, they had to change the title. That did not get registered. It left their property open the public use. Savini's film is similar, but different. For one thing, it is in color. The ending is different. Both are worth watching. Romero's dead were slow walking, no running.
