Another Father's Day is coming up. I do not expect anything from my kids. Just having them in my life is enough. Plus, I don't want to leave them with more things to get rid of when I am no longer here. It makes me think of my dad. He was in my life, but not very much. My mom was mom and dad in our house. Dad would visit every once in a while. He would also disappear for many months. Sometimes, when he would come back, he would ask for money. From his children! I was not even out of school. I made that mistake once. He "borrowed" 100 from me. He told me he would return twice as much. I never saw that money. He even tried again. But, by that time I told him I needed my money to pay for college, which he did not help pay for. I know when I hear these right wingers say that kids need fathers in their lives, I would disagree. If the original one is not in the picture, the mother should not be forced into bringing in a male just to have one in their lives. It creates problems. There are a lot of violent freeloaders out there. It's sad how our government is taking away safety nets for families that are in this situation.
