Silence in the Field

This was a hard weekend for the farm.  It has been extremely hot.  Chickens do not do well with heat.  Having a dog like a Grand Pyrenees can be hard, also.  They are used to cold weather.  They have a heavy coat of fur.  Saturday, I found our dog in the field.  I called to him.  I thought he did not hear me.  That happens.  No movement.  I go closer.  I realize he is not breathing.  I had to dig a hole, before the big rain.  I was going to pass out from the heat.  I managed to bury our friendly giant.  Now we have no watchdog.  The chickens are sitting ducks for prey.  There are 3 of those left, ducks.  I purchased some devices that I hope can scare predators away.  If we lose these chickens, farm life may be over.  I really hate that.  Getting a new dog like a farm dog is not that easy.  If you go to a rescue, they want more information than we provided for our children's adoptions.  Buy one would set us back.
